What is camera filter/photographic filter?
A camera filter is made of optical glass used in photography. A camera filter is used to inserted in the optical path allow the photographer to have more control of the images being produced. Sometimes they are used to make only subtle changes to images; other times the image would simply not be possible without them. The filter can be a square or any shape mounted in a holder accessory. The most popular type of camera filters are "Screw in type", these are round in shape, made up of glass or plastic disk with a metal or plastic ring frame. The ring frame has "filter threads" which can be screwed in front of the lens. These filter threads comes in various sizes know as filter thread sizes for e.g. 18 - 55mm lens ususally has a 52mm filter thread.
